Little Holt self catering cottage
A peaceful, self-contained country retreat for one to four adults, The Little Holt adjoins The Holt B&B and is set within approximately 3.5 acres of garden and grounds. Tucked away and set back around 75 metres from the local road, it offers a quiet and relaxing setting, with ample on-site parking and views across the garden and woods.
Available for stays of at least four consecutive nights, for up to 4 adults, Little Holt is well suited to guests wishing to explore the delights of Kent at their own pace, with the freedom to come and go as they please while enjoying the tranquillity of the countryside.
Little Holt is only suitable for adults and we are not able to accommodate pets or children under 18. The Holt and the Little Holt are both non-smoking.
Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Living and sleeping rooms are fitted with linked smoke or heat detectors, and all rooms are comfortably heated by radiators supplied from the gas boiler in the adjoining owners’ property.
Accommodation
On the first floor there are two double-aspect bedrooms. Bedroom one is a double bedroom. Bedroom two can be requested to be arranged as either a double or twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have clothes hanging space, a chest of drawers, bedside tables and bedside lamps.
The first floor bathroom has a bath, wash basin and WC.
On the ground floor there is a comfortable living area with views and a log-burning stove. The kitchen area is well equipped with a full-size electric oven, four-ring hob, kettle, toaster, cafetière, double-bowl ceramic sink, crockery, cutlery, chopping board and food preparation utensils. The back door in the kitchen opens onto the garden, with views to the fields beyond.
The entrance lobby and utility room include a washing machine, tumble dryer and upright fridge freezer. There is also a ground floor shower room with shower, wash basin and WC.
The gardens
The Little Holt is surrounded by approximately 3.5 acres of garden and grounds, providing a peaceful setting throughout the seasons. Guests are welcome to enjoy views across the lawns, mature trees and borders, with a variety of spring flowers, summer colour and autumn interest around the garden.
Set well back from the local road, the garden offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, with open views towards the surrounding countryside. Depending on the time of year, guests may see bluebells in the our woodland, blossom in the fruit trees, flowering rhododendrons and a wide variety of birds and wildlife in the garden.
A short walk or drive from the Little Holt

The Little Holt makes an excellent base for exploring Kentish villages, gardens, historic houses and castles, including Sissinghurst (2.5 miles), Cranbrook (3 miles), Smallhythe Place (4 miles), Great Dixter (7 miles), Tenterden (7 miles), Bodiam Castle (10 miles), Scotney Castle (10.5 miles), Rye (14 miles) and Leeds Castle (22 miles).
Benenden itself has two welcoming country pubs, a well-loved community shop and coffee bar, and a real village atmosphere. Please see our local eating & places page for more suggestions.
The Bull is an easy walk and serves a wide range of food and drink, together with roaring log fires for cooler English days. The Woodcock is a lovely 40-minute walk away through the Roman Strawberry Wood Culvert. If you fancy a stroll to the village for coffee and a paper, we are pleased to support our village community shop and coffee bar, ‘Benendens’.
Benenden Girls School is about a 10-minute walk away, and Benenden Hospital is a short drive. The Grange, just off Benenden Green, is home to the famous Collingwood ‘Cherry’ Ingram garden.
